Sometimes we just need that quick confidence boost to go about our day. Maybe you’re heading into an important meeting, dealing with a difficult customer or just want to feel confident about leaving the house to go shopping and deal with crowds.

Here are my top Boost Confidence Tips.

1. When you look good you feel good.

Ever put on some nice lingerie or a fabulous dress and feel amazing?
Feeling comfortable with what you’re wearing and your own style no matter what it is important to feeling confident.
Whether your style is emo, goth, rockabilly, hippie or a fashionable trend-setter by wearing pants on your head, if it makes you feel amazing then you feel confident.
Have you ever been out shopping and seen someone walking around and thought – look at what they’re wearing – whether its tight clothing, their undies hanging out of their pants or they have bright coloured hair.
They always look confident when they are out and about because they are looking good and feeling amazing.
If you feel good, you will always perform your best without worrying about anything.

2. Cue the bass music.

This is another of my Boost Confidence Tips.
Music is such a powerful tool.
It has a significant effect on our moods and emotions.
Have you ever listened to a song that has made you cry or a song that has made you get up and dance?
Do you have a playlist to get you out of your funk and feeling better about your day?
Researchers have discovered that the lyrics to a song don’t matter as much as the bass line. The more bass the song has the more you powerful you feel.
And, when you feel powerful and confident, it can elevate your sense of control over your life, improve your cognitive functioning, and even make you take more risks. (goodbye comfort zone )

My Playlist

  • We Will Rock You – Queen
  • Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
  • Boom Boom Pow – Black Eyed Peas
  • Power – Kanye West
  • Me Too – Meghan Trainor

3. Picture your success

Did you know that the brain isn’t able to differentiate between a real memory and an imagined one?
(On another note, this is why I scrapbook)

What this means is that when you vividly imagine something with emotion, your brain chemistry changes to believe that this experience was real and in doing so, your mind records it as a real memory.
Due to your minds ability to do this, you can use visualisation to overcome fear and invoke your confidence, by making the “unknown known.”

When you approach this next obstacle in your path or a situation arises, you will feel confident in your ability to move past it because your mind has already recorded that you have successfully overcome this before.

Pretty neat hey?
This is why it’s also important to write your goals in the present tense (that’s another blog post)

So, if you are needing a boost of confidence to head into a meeting, tackle a task outside your comfort zone or take a test. Spend a moment to picture your success.

Visualise yourself holding that test paper with a result you are happy with so an A or a 90% mark.
Visualise yourself tackling that task outside your comfort zone with ease.
Visualise you coming out of that meeting, happy with how it went and excited for the outcome.

4. Superhero Pose

This one of my Boost Confidence Tips is my favourite.
The Superhero pose projects power.
The physical pose in which the superhero (that’s you) stands with legs spread apart, arms on hips, elbows bent and I like to look off to the side just like Superman does.
I suggest holding this pose for 2 minutes before you head into an interview, a client meeting or any situation where you need that extra boost of confidence.

5. Quotes

Quotes and affirmations are a good tool to use to change your thinking into a positive mindset.
Here is a quote that I like to remind myself of.
Write it down and keep it somewhere to remind you.

“Confidence is the most attractive quality you can have. How can anyone see how great you are if you can’t see it yourself.” – Kylie King

So next time you have a situation arise and you just need a boost of confidence to get through.
